For the past few months I have casually looked for bungalow-style house numbers to replace the generic ones currently adorning the house. I quickly learned that you can spend a small fortune addressing your house, and thus a bargain hunt began.
The best deal on mission/craftsman/bungalow-style house numbers google could find for me was at Atlas Homewares where numbers in an oil-rubbed bronze or brushed pewter finish cost $10.50 each. Not bad.
But then I read a comment at House In Progress about house numbers at big box Lowes that might fit the bill. For whatever reason, I couldn’t confirm this online because the mission house numbers don’t appear on the Lowes website. (Althouth the website content seems to be based in part on the zipcode I was required to enter– your results may vary.)
I decided to take a drive out to the nearest exurban Lowes to check it out for sure. Turns out that they had the Mission style numbers and they are the very same Atlas Homewares numbers I saw online. What’s more, I could take them home that day for $5 each–half the Atlas direct price. Bargain hunted and bagged!
I probably won’t get around to mounting my little bargain hunt trophies until next spring, but
at least shopping for the numbers is off my to-do list.
