Art in our Kitchen

Previously I highlighted the beautiful lithograph that my sister-in-law gave us for Christmas. I also mentioned that my brother is a talented artist. His specialty is the airbrush and we hope someday to have him paint our son’s playroom. But that hasn’t fit into our budget yet. In the meantime, we proudly display a print he made for our kitchen.

In the background, you can see one of our favorite paint choices in the house. The walls had been painted ultra pure white, making the kitchen look sterile and cold. We covered the white with “Cinnabar” from Behr. This color immediately warmed up the space and we get a surprising number of compliments from neighbors who see it through the window as they walk by. You can see that the burnt red color compliments the warmth of the trim around our windows and cherry wainscotting.

I LOVE Red!! We have just a couple of red walls in our house, but most of the house is accented in red also. Good choice – looks beautiful! And I love the print:)

Glad you like it, Jana. Actually the kitchen isn’t entirely red– the two walls that have the cabinets are a light tan. We’ve used red to accent the living room, too.

I love red, too! That print looks very nice in there.
