Bug Fixes and Layout Tweaks

If you dropped by the blog today, you may have noticed that the page layouts and colors have changed a bit. I just completed some updates to the blog code that improves the way the site looks and functions.

blog screen capThis all got started when Shauna at Salvaged Beauty posted some blog work she was doing that could be applied to other blogs hosted by Blogsome. I use Blogsome, too, so I went to work on her suggestions. Shauna sent me a link to correct a bug with the “popular posts” listing on my blog, and even made a great little custom icon for my blog that should now appear up in the address line of your browser window.

Like my home improvement skills, my blog coding skills have been learned as I go along with lots of ideas and help from fellow housebloggers. Shauna, thanks for your generous help and fine words about Bungalow ‘23.

While I was tweaking the blog code, I freshened the layout a bit to make the three-column layout more clear and just make things prettier. I hope you like the changes. I have a few other ideas for updates that I will roll out soon. But before I do, I’ve got to do some actual home improvement work here.

Yikes! I logged in to the blog remotely last night from a computer using Internet Explorer and discovered to my horror that my layout tweaks that looked so great in Firefox at home render differently in IE. I’m working on correcting this…

Okay, I’ve got it effectively fixed. I had no idea there were such issues with rendering between browsers– lesson learned.
