It looks like our fair city is planning a pair of events aimed at helping homeowners reduce their energy consumption and expense. From the news release:

Two upcoming Energy Fairs will help residents reduce household bills through low-cost improvements and showcase new ideas for saving money and energy. Displays and demonstrations will cover topics such as energy-saving light bulbs, programmable thermostats, energy audits, high-efficiency furnaces, project financing, tax incentives, and preparing the home for the heating season. The first 500 attendees at each fair will receive free light bulbs, and there will be activities for the kids.

Southside Energy Fair
Monday October 16, 6-9 p.m.
Hale Elementary School
1220 East 54th Street, Minneapolis

Northside Energy Fair
Tuesday, October 24, 6-9 p.m.
Jenny Lind Community School
5025 Bryant Ave North, Minneapolis

Sounds like a good event to me. I could use a refresher on some easy tips and local resources for home energy conservation. Plus, how can I pass up a free light bulb?
