Life Interrupts

I wish I could say the nearly two months since my last post have been so filled with progress around the house that I just haven’t had time to blog about it. Instead I’ve been busy with job hunting, celebrating the holidays, burying my grandfather, and preparing for the birth of our second child. Sometimes life interrupts even the best plans– and my plans around the house weren’t all that great to start with.

Ms. Bungalow and I are delighted that our new baby arrives tomorrow via a c-section scheduled for 2:00 in the afternoon. In these last hours before the birth, I wanted to take the opportunity to put a post up before I have a newborn dictating my schedule and stealing my sleep.

My progress on the baby’s future nursery/bedroom has made only glacial progress in recent weeks. At this rate, the room will be ready by the time the new baby to starts kindergarten. We have been planning all along to use the sitting room of our master suite for the baby’s nursery for the first few months after he arrives, so the unfinished bedroom isn’t a problem… yet. Since my last report, I got a bit of awkward demolition work done on the ceiling with help from my Dad, but there is still a hefty bit of demo left to do.

I suppose it’s only fitting that my progress around the house has come in baby steps. I expect that pattern to continue for several months more. In the meantime, here’s a couple more highlights from the past two months with a update on the baby to follow in a couple days:

Decorated the flowerbox for winter!

Baked a fantastic apple pie from scratch!

Went fishing for “the one that got away” from my son in the bathtub!
Tub Snake

Enjoyed our only real snowfall of the winter!

Even though your resolutions are probably mostly broken by now, best wishes to all in the New Year. And now I’m off to enjoy my last good night’s sleep of 2007.

hey—good luck with the c-section and if i can offer one piece of advice it is this: lower your expectations on the rehab!

Actually the rehab has gone very well. Compared to the emergency c-section with our first child, the recovery from the planned second c-section has been a walk in the park. Or so I’m told.

Ms. Bungalow was out doing laps at the Mall of America with the stroller three weeks after the surgery. Last time around she waited twice as long before she felt like she was ready to push the stroller much.
