Or maybe the pigeons are trying unsuccessfully to build nests on my roof in the places I installed bird spikes last year. I suppose that’s a credible explanation, too.
I’ve seen at least half a dozen eggs like this so far this spring that appear to have rolled off the roof onto the deck or sidewalk, both in front and in back of the house. A quick walk-around on the roof revealed one spot where the pigeons are attempting to nest despite the spikes I installed, and a couple other spots where they might choose to nest that I have not yet spiked. Clearly I need to get some more spikes for these places, but overall pigeon activity at the house is way down since a year ago.
