Design Sos LogoCalling all denizens of disastrous domains!  If you know of a home–either your own or a friend’s– that needs a design intervention, True Value Hardware has a new contest just for you.  It’s the 2010 True Value Design SOS Contest.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Between now and October 7, 2010, submit a description and some photos or video of your home design disaster to
  2. Then on October 22, visitors to may vote for their favorite entry among the top 10 finalists selected by True Value.
  3. Finally, the contest winner will be announced in mid-November and awarded $2,500 to use at True Value hardware stores and another $2,500 of in-person consultation with a True Value “Master of All Things Hardwarian.”

The submissions to last year’s contest were all fun and worthy projects, and I’m sure this year’s finalists will follow that pattern.  Whether you intend to enter the contest or not, it will be fun to follow the submissions–and if you or a friend have been waiting on funding or expertise to tackle your home renovation project, this contest could be a real lifesaver.

Disclosure: I was one of the bloggers selected by True Value to work on the DIY Squad. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program and my DIY project as well as my posts about my experience. I have also been compensated for the materials needed for my DIY project. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.
