Hacked

I discovered yesterday that my blog had been hacked and malicious code inserted into the javascript on some pages. It appears that I have eliminated that threat now and I am finishing the repair process. In the meantime, please bear with the incomplete theme and any other temporary wonkiness.

Bummer! That is so frustrating. How did you figure out what happened and how to fix it? Good luck!

Thanks for the sympathy, Leslie. I have the website registered with Google’s webmaster tools and I was alerted to the trouble when I received an email from Google saying they found malicious software on three pages at my domain. I assume this was an automated attack that targeted my (formerly) outdated Wordpress installation. I’ll share what I learned about this in an upcoming post.

In the meantime, did you reach the blog without going through a scary red Google malware warning page? The site is clean but it apparently takes a while for the warning pages to come down. Frustrating.

Ouch.. Looks like you are getting things put back together though. I don’t know if you top banner is new or just a quick fix, but I like the paint daubs look.
